The Walking Dead will be featured on the cover of next week’s Entertainment Weekly.

The publication recently teased fans with an image of Glenn and Maggie sharing a passionate kiss from the upcoming season of the hit AMC drama. In the wake of that exclusive promo image, the magazine has unveiled the new cover.

The next issue of Entertainment Weekly will feature series hero Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) armed and ready for more zombie-related mayhem. You can find the cover embedded below.

The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple discussed what’s in store for the characters next season. According to Gimple, Grimes and company will be facing a new threat when the series returns later this year.

“The new threat is something you can’t just stab in the face. You can’t talk sense to it. You can’t make a truce with it. It’s beyond all that. It would be a threat in any world, but in this world it is much more terrifying,” the showrunner explained to Entertainment Weekly.

The folks at Coming Soon suggest that the new threat could be something viral. This would explain why Daryl was wearing a handkerchief around his face in a recently-released photo from the fourth season.

If you’re lucky enough to be in attendance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, then you can check out The Walking Dead panel on Friday. Considering a huge promotional push for the next season appears to be gearing up, there’s no telling what sort of details might be dropped about the new episodes this weekend.

Andrew Lincoln, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, and Melissa McBride are all expected to return to the land of the undead this fall. According to AMC, the first trailer for the new season is expected to hit the internet in just a few days.
