Tara Reid has reportedly signed on for a role in the upcoming flick Tie the Knot.
The actress will star alongside Karishma Ahulwalia, Nevin Millan, and Omi Vaidya in Shuja Paul’s film. Starlight Global Films describes the project as a “cross cultural Indian-American” comedy.
According to the press release, Tara Reid will tackle the role of Beatrice in Tie the Knot. Her character attempts to escape the clutches of her overbearing mother by fleeing the United States for Mumbai.
Beatrice’s impromptu journey to India ultimately sets the stage for a “unique, floor-stomping comedy that will leave audiences enthralled at the calamity of old-school traditions and contemporary lifestyle.”
Production on Tie the Knot is expected to begin on July 22. Although Internet Movie Database claims the film will arrive in theaters on November 15, an official release date was not mentioned in the press release.
Director Shuja Paul’s upcoming comedy will keep Tara Reid busy for a while, but this isn’t the only project looming on the horizon. Thanks to the popularity of the SyFy original movie Sharknado, a sequel could be lurking just around the corner. The actress recently said that she’s definitely down for another shark-oriented adventure.
“I’m just so glad that people saw the humor in it that I did … because it’s hilarious. This movie was so ridiculous, you know? Like it’s almost so bad that it’s good,” Tara Reid recently told the folks over at TMZ.
SyFy’s Thomas Vitale was understandably excited about the popularity of Sharknado on social media. Although the movie didn’t pull in amazing ratings, the network hasn’t ruled out a sequel just yet.
“We’ve had a lot of meetings, emails. I’m not being coy, [but] that’s obviously being talked about. There may be some kind of announcement coming forth but there’s nothing going to be announced now just because we haven’t had real discussions with the real people we have to talk to about that,” Vitale explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
