Ed Sheeran Sings Live On The Today Show [Video]
Hundreds of fans joined Ed Sheeran, live on the plaza to sing along some of his most popular songs during the Today Summer Concert Series.
Some camped overnight to get as close to the stage as possible and catch a close glimpse at the very popular British ballad singer.
The 22-year-old performed live his hit songs Lego House, The A Team, and I Need You, You Don’t Need Me as the crowd sang every single word with him.
Sheeran, who is a relative newcomer to the scene was impressed,
“My nana always said if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere,” Sheeran said as he looked on at the sea of orange. “I’m just overwhelmed by it.”
But this was only a warm-up for Ed Sheeran, on Saturday night he will open for his pal, Taylor Swift at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. He is on tour with the country star and so far he says it has been memorable.
“The best thing about being on the road in general is just playing every single night in front of people that are genuinely fans of your music,” he told TODAY’s Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “I think the best thing about being on the road with Taylor is she has a lot of days off, so I actually get to see America. I got to see the Empire State Building the other day. I’d never been there, so that was fun.”
Fans took to Twitter to express their feelings on their idol.
I interviewed Ed Sheeran and he was a really cool guy. My life right now is also really cool to say… http://t.co/OjSabNItyO
