Helen Mirren Stripper Shoes, Wasp-Waisted Gown Create Stir [Photo, Video]

Helen Mirren’s stripper shoes are creating a stir after the 67-year-old actress appeared at the RED 2 premiere Thursday night in Los Angeles wearing an elegant wasp-waisted teal Elie Saab gown. As you can see from the photographs tweeted below, she lifted the gown’s hem to reveal clear lucite stripper shoes. Wowsers.

The stripper shoes have become something of a playful statement for Helen Mirren. She has spoken out in the past on The Jay Leno Show calling the stripper shoes her secret weapon that she used to buy for $39 on Hollywood Boulevard to give her a little more height.

I wouldn’t have pulled out a ruler to check, but US Magazine is reporting that the clear Helen Mirren stripper shoes had a six inch heel. That’s not too bad for a woman who is going to turn 68 years old on July 26.

RED 2 is the sequel to RED, a comics-inspired action comedy film about retired and over-the-hill Cold War era assassins. The cast includes A-listers like Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Anthony Hopkins, in addition to Helen Mirren.
