Aubrey Plaza shot her very first sex scene for The To-Do List, and in classic April Ludgate-style, she absolutely hated it.
The 29-year-old comedic actress, best known for her role on Parks and Recreation, stars in the upcoming comedy as a high school senior looking for more sexual experiences before she enters college.
In an interview with the New York Times, Plaza admitted that the film actually afforded her with the opportunity to film her very first sex scene. The scene was quite demanding, calling for Plaza to simulate fellatio, masturbation and penetration. "It was a nightmare," she said while "smiling broadly."
"I was like, this is the weirdest acting job I've ever had in my life."
Some of that awkwardness might have actually helped the scene, though. In it, Plaza's character is losing her virginity.
The film is based on director Maggie Carey's own experiences as a teenager. It is described as an off-color exploration of a young woman's sexual awakening, but Carey is loathe to call it a romantic comedy.
"Girls learn how to masturbate, too; we just haven't seen it before," Plaza said.
Also in the cast are Bill Hader (Carey's real-life husband), Donald Glover, Andy Samberg, Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Connie Britton.
Fun fact: This is the same film Plaza plugged at the MTV Move Awards when she awkwardly rushed the stage during Will Ferrell's acceptance speech.
