Lindsay Lohan’s ‘The Canyons’ Gets A New Trailer [Video]

A new trailer for the Lindsay Lohan thriller The Canyons has arrived online.

It’s been a long hard road for writer Bret Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader’s storied project. After getting rejected from such notable film festivals as Sundance and SXSW, it seemed the thriller may never enjoy a proper release in the US.

Although things certainly looked grim for a while, IFC Films eventually swooped in and scooped up the North American distribution rights to The Canyons. In order to remind everyone that the film still exists, the company has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming flick.

The previously-released trailers painted a somewhat different picture of Ellis and Schrader’s movie. These clips were definitely a little confusing, though the latest clip seems to actually explore what the film is really about.

Taking a cue from Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, the latest trailer for The Canyons features splashes of neon over a dubstep soundtrack. After a brief monologue from Lindsay Lohan about movies, the clip gets down the business.

According to the official synopsis, Lindsay Lohan’s most recent cinematic endeavor follows the adventures of several twenty-somethings as they navigate life, love, and work in Hollywood. Judging from the trailer, it doesn’t look as though things are going very well for the main characters.

In addition to the Mean Girls alum, The Canyons stars Nolan Funk and porn actor James Deen. If his name sounds familiar, then chances are you’ve been paying a lot of attention to Farrah Abraham and her infamous sex tape. He’s the guy she hired to participate in her project.

Paul Schrader’s thriller is slated to arrive in a handful of theaters on August 2, but chances are it’s not going to get a wide release. Interested parties will also be able to catch the flick on VOD.
