Bobbi Kristina Engaged, Says Nick Gordon Isn’t Her Brother

Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon are engaged again, nearly a year after calling off their first engagement.

Bobbi Kristina made the announcement on her Facebook page Wednesday, and went on to say that she is tired of hearing people refer to Gordon as her brother.

“Let me clear up something, we aren’t even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him,” she wrote. “In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating.”

Bobbi Kristina also referred to Gordon as her “gorgeous fiance” in an Instagram photo on July 3.

Gordon was informally adopted by Bobbi Kristina’s mother, the late Whitney Houston, when he was 12 years old. He has been living with the Houston family throughout his teens.

It was first reported that the young couple had gotten engaged in March 2012, and then it was rumored that they had called off the engagement in August. However, in October, Bobbi Kristina confirmed that she and Gordon were engaged. A month later, it was reported that the couple’s breakup would be featured on their reality show, The Houstons: On Our Own.

The two called off their engagement because the family didn’t approve of their relationship. On an episode of the show where they announced their engagement, Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Patricia, called it “unacceptable.”

Gary Houston, Whitney’s brother, told Gordon, “No one knew that from a godson you would turn into a boyfriend. No one knew that.”

Bobbi Kristina went on to say in her Facebook post that people needed to stop judging her relationship, and acknowledged that things with Gordon have been rocky in the past.

“Pretty sure it’s my own decision who I want to be with. Yes, my relationship may not be perfect. We will have rough patches, just like every other relationship. And we have had our rough patches,” she wrote. “You may or may not agree with my relationship.You may or may not respect it. Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours.”
