Gospel singer Albertina Walker is in ICU, Twitter erroneously reports her demise

There is a lot of concern on Twitter this morning over gospel singer Albertina Walker, whose death was erroneously reported and shared on the microblogging service.

Users were tweeting and re-tweeting the following message, which ostensibly lead the the rumors that the singer had passed on:

R.I.P. Albertina Walker. A Gospel Legend!!!!

But users claiming to be close to Walker quickly stepped in and indicated that while the singer is very ill, she is not dead and remains in the intensive care unit:

@TheBelleReport DESPITE RUMORS…As of 9:01am today, Mon., 9/6 Queen, Albertina Walker is still here. She remains hospitalized on a ventilator in I.C.U.

@Donnieradio Please forgive the report posted by my asst…I just called and Albertina Walker is STILL HERE in ICU! This was misreported. Resting in ICU

No further information is available about the 81-year-old’s current condition, but reports of her death are premature.
