Elisha Cuthbert Marries Hockey Star Beau Dion Phaneuf
Actress Elisha Cuthbert is married! The 30-year-old scored her own real life Happy Ending after tying the knot with longtime hockey star beau Dion Phaneuf on Saturday.
According to People, the two were married in their own native Canada in a ceremony at Prince Edward Island. The ceremony saw over 300 guests in attendance, watching as the two exchanged vows at the St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield.
The event was live-tweeted by Toronto Star reporter Rose DiManno inside the church, which was reportedly decorated with maple leaves.
Bridesmaids were wearing pale pink fishtail gowns, and Elisha Cuthbert herself was chauffeured to the church in a black Chevrolet Camaro convertible.
“It’s a big wedding,” said Rev. Paul Egan just prior to leading the service. “Probably the biggest I’ve ever done in my 46 years, as far as the celebrity part of it goes.”
The venue was very mush selected on purpose, as the couple often spend their summers together on the eastern Canadian island.
The couple started dating five years ago. Prior to Phaneuf, Cuthbert was attached to NHL star Sean Avery for nearly two years.
Phaneuf proposed last September and announced the couple’s engagement to a small group of friends and family during dinner at New Glasgow Lobster, a restaurant on the island.
The manager of the restaurant said that his servers noticed the size of Cuthbert’s ring, remarking that it was “pretty huge.”
