Shayanna Jenkins And Aaron Hernandez Won’t Be Allowed To Wed

Shayanna Jenkins and Aaron Hernandez will not be given permission to marry, according to Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson.
Hernandez is currently charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, and prosecutors were worried that his marriage to Shayanna Jenkins would shield her from testifying under Massachusetts law.

Hodgson tells USA Today:

“I don’t subscribe to that. I feel that those rights are things that you access on the outside, if you’re a good citizen. We’ll do everything we can to not have that happen.”

Hodgson has become somewhat of the cases spokesperson and sat down with the NFL Network on Wednesday to further explain why Jenkins and Aaron Hernandez are being denied the option to get married.

“We’re not going to revamp our entire security system to perform marriages inside our prison. If you want to get married, what you do is, you stay out of jail,” said Hodgson.

The decision to stop any attempt at a wedding occurred after Aaron Hernandez told Jenkins to keep quiet about the Odin Lloyd murder. Before the couple spoke, Jenkins had been fully assisting criminal investigators.

Shayanna Jenkins and Aaron Hernandez have their own violent history. Last year, police were called to the couples shared home after a domestic violence call placed to local police. No one was arrested during the call to their beach house.

At this time, Aaron Hernandez is being held in the Bristol County Jail in Massachusetts. Hernandez is being held in a single cell with no bail.

Hernandez is set to head back into court on July 24 for a probably cause hearing. After his court date, the former NFL player could find himself joining the prisons general population.

Do you think keeping Shayanna Jenkins and Aaron Hernandez from marrying is a smart legal move by Sheriff Thomas Hodgson?
