Sharper Image Literati eReader Debuts With $159 Price Tag

Believe it or not, not everyone wants an iPad, some fans of books simply want a way to carry around a collection of reading materials without adding 20 pounds to their life and for some of those reader, the Sharper Image Literati might be a more manageable and specialized option.

The Literati features a 7-inch display, comes equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard and offers WiFi, not bad options, unfortunately there’s no 3G in store and with the Amazon Kindle WiFi only edition sitting at $139, this units $159 price tag may be more than we’d be willing to pay.

Downloads are thankfully simple with Kobo online bookstore downloading suppoert.

My biggest issue with the system is the display type. The units display features an LCD display at 800 x 400 pixels of resolution, but it’s not a touchscreen, relying instead on keyboard and side buttons to turn pages, sure it’s good enough for Kindle units, but at a higher price tag I would expect more from this eReader.

The Literati is expected at Best Buy stores this October. Electronista says other locations will include, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Macy’s.
