Actress Lucy Lawless is taking to the stage for a three-night production of the hit musical Chicago.
The 45-year-old actress will play "Mama" Morton in the production which will take place at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Also appearing in the production is True Blood's Stephen Moyer who will play Billing. Comedian Drew Carey is also appearing in the limited run show as Amos.
While many fans know Lucy Lawless from hit shows including Xena: Warrior Princess, Battlestar Galactica, and Spartacus, she has also appeared on New York's Broadway production of Grease.
Chicago, the third-longest-running show on Broadway is being directed by Brooke Shields. She starred in the show's Broadway and London's West End productions.
Lawless will appear in the production from July 26 to July 28.
Lawless will fly out from New Zealand this week to began preparation for her three-night run as Mama.
The actress tells Stuff New Zealand:
"I could not believe that they had cast Lucy from New Zealand in this iconic musical, a classical American artform, on a hallowed stage like the Hollywood Bowl and they let me [be involved]. I didn't dare hope it would happen, and it bloody did. I am beyond excited.
After finishing her time at the Hollywood Bowl, Lucy Lawless will return to New Zealand where she will prepare for the role of Velma Kelly in the Auckland Theatre Company's own production of Chicago. Her NZ run will last longer as she takes to the stage from November 1 through November 24, 2013.
As if the Charlie's Angels actress isn't already busy enough, she is also tied to the action movie The Expendables 3. Lawless will be added to the Expendables cast along with Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage and Wesley Snipes.
When she's not busy acting on the stage and in films, Lawless is busy trying to save the Arctic:
