Demi Lovato Opens Up About Father’s Death

Demi Lovato said that she felt an overwhelming sense of peace after she went to her father’s funeral on Saturday.

The former Disney star admitted that burying her dad was one of the hardest things she’s ever done, but she is happy he is not suffering anymore.

Demi Lovato hasn’t always had a close relationship with her father Patrick Lovato, who split from her mom in 1994. She admitted that she hasn’t spoke to him in five years.

“The last time I talked to him was two years ago, you try to have faith in somebody, even when you’re the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don’t know what else to do,” she once said.

Earlier this week, the talented singer said, “I’m handling it okay, my father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship. But at the end of the day, he’s still my dad and I grew up with him and he’s a wonderful person. It’s difficult…I’m handling it okay.”

The 20-year-old’s dad died on June 23 when he was just 53 years old. He had been battling throat cancer for a few years

Demi Lovato has received a lot of support since her dad’s death, so she took to Twitter to thank her fans. “I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers. God bless you all, thank you so much love,” she wrote.
