2010 College Football Preview: Auburn Tigers

The Auburn Tigers will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #17 ranked team according to the Sporting News. This one is close to my hear as my two cousins, Sam and Ben, will be attending Auburn this year. Good luck guys! I am pretty high on the Tigers this year, they have had a full off season to let a loss to Alabama sink in. It was a game they could have one, and come this year’s Iron Bowl I would suspect the Tigers are going to dish out some payback. The folks over at SBRForums.com also think that Alabama will have a fight on their hands in the SEC West.

Of course the key date for Auburn is the season finale at Alabama. The Tigers had the Crimson Tide on the ropes last year and let them escape with a 26-21 win. I do not for see that happening again. Auburn has a very workable schedule they get Georgia and LSU at home. They also don’t play a lot of major players this year. The thing to remember this is a balanced team with many veterans returning.

Auburn’s next big thing and the key to their season is Junior QB Cameron Newton. He must step up and if he wins the starting job, he must prove that last year’s offense was no fluke. Senior RB Mario Fannin will help shoulder some of that responsibility. Head Coach Gene Chizik has hauled in one heck of a recruiting class. If there defense can gain some consistency we should be talking about the Tigers as a BCS team.
