Has Paula Deen Finally Hit Rock Bottom?

The cooking show host and business woman Paula Deen has had one hell of a week. But has she hit rock bottom?

With announcements from Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Caesar’s Entertainment, QVC, and seemingly everyone that had any business dealings with the fallen star coming on daily basis for past the few days, it’s hard to say.

The bleeding is still going on, but now it seems to be trickling instead of pouring out.

Deen got in a whole lot of trouble when it was revealed that she has used a racially insensitive word in the past, and, when she tried to explain herself, she made matters worse.

There have been few times in recent history, though it’s not unheard of, in which we have witness such fall from grace.

On Wednesday, Paula Deen appeared on NBC’s Today Show after being a no-show on a previously scheduled interview. She made a tearful apology stating she is not a racist, but that didn’t seem to stop her sponsors from dropping her.

However, there might be some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Some celebrities are starting to speak up in her defense.

Vocal business tycoon Donald Trump took to Twitter to defend Deen, “Paula Deen made a big mistake in using a forbidden word but must be given some credit for admitting her mistake. She will be back!”

The ladies on The View were divided, but Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck sided with Paula. Barbara argued that Deen has apologized, so it’s time to move on, while Elisabeth claimed that everyone should be given a second chance.

Moreover, Matt Lauer, who conducted the interview for TODAY, has been criticized for coming on too strong during the piece.

These can all be seen as positive signs by the business woman. She has hired crisis management expert Judy Smith, who helped Monica Lewinsky and General Michael Petraeus restore their good names.

Additionally, the rest of Paula Deen’s empire if flourishing. Her Savannah restaurants and cruise line are reportedly being flooded with requests for bookings. Her book is a top seller as well.

The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, an annual culinary exhibition, announced that it is sticking by Paula Deen. One of the few surviving partnerships for the culinary diva.
