Gilgo Body Found Is Queens Woman Missing Since March

On Gilgo Beach, a body found Monday night that onlookers watched wash in from the surf has been identified, and police say that they do not believe the woman was a victim of the killer or killers responsible for the suspected serial murders plaguing the community.

The Gilgo Beach body discovery followed the location over the course of several months of between ten and fifteen sets of remains, with many of the dead identified as local or regional sex workers.

The first body found near Ocean Parkway came by accident and was believed to be that of missing escort Shannan Gilbert, who had bizarrely wandered off to what appeared to be her death more than a year earlier.

The subsequent search turned up as many as 15 different sets of remains, and Gilbert’s was the last to have been located, in heavy brush between the Parkway and the water.

No arrests have been made in the suspected serial killings, but many of the women killed have been identified following the discovery of the remains near Ocean Parkway.

Unlike the victims, the woman whose body washed up on Gilgo Beach Monday night was spotted in the water and not by the side of the road, and her vehicle had been found about a mile away the night she was last seen.

Police say that Queens woman Natasha Jugo, 31, had last been seen in March. Her car and several personal items were located in West Gilgo Beach and reported to police.

Local paper Newsday reports:

“The search for Jugo had begun March 18 after Suffolk police said they received a 911 call at 11:20 a.m., with the caller reporting finding the personal items. The NYPD said at the time that Jugo had not been seen since leaving her home the day before.”

Prior to the discovery of Jugo’s body on Gilgo Beach, a possible connection to the Long Island serial killer case was denied by police when she was reported missing in March.
