Johnny Depp never leaves home without Captain Jack Sparrow.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is just an all-around cool guy. In order to visit sick children in hospitals dressed as the iconic character, he always has the costume with him when he travels.
During a chat with E! Online on Monday (June 24), Johnny Depp revealed that he keeps his Jack Sparrow costume with him at all times. The reason: There's always an opportunity to surprise the kids.
"Sometimes you go to kiddie hospitals and things like that. I'll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards. It basically turns into a two, three-hour improvisation and it's really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack," the actor explained to the website.
According to Next Movie, Lone Ranger producer Jerry Bruckheimer said Johnny Depp is generous because he understands his own good fortune. Simply put, the actor just wants to give a little something back.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Johnny Depp will sometimes make unscheduled appearances at hospitals to visit sick children. He's also been known to appear at school assemblies as everyone's favorite swashbuckling hero.
While filming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 2010, Depp was invited by a student to visit Meridian Primary School in Greenwich. The actor took the school up on their offer and stopped by dressed as Captain Jack.
"It was the most exciting school day ever. I had the idea to write the letter last week after me and a friend went to see the film set. Pat from the school office delivered it. Yesterday the school called us in for a special assembly at the end of the day," one teacher said following his appearance.
Fans of the Pirates alum can catch his latest endeavor, Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, in theaters on July 3. The film also stars Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, and Helena Bonham Carter.
