Ray Romano To Return To ‘Parenthood’

Looks like Ray Romano is returning to television again. Romano, who enjoyed a 12-episode stint on NBC’s Parenthood, is returning to the series for the upcoming season.

According to Deadline, Romano, who plays cynical but charming photographer Hank Rizzoli, will be returning to a fairly regular gig on the show. Last season Romano was introduced as Sarah ‘s (Lauren Graham) boss. Of course, because of how Sarah stumbles into blunders, Hank turned into a potential love interest even though she was an engaged woman.

When we left off with Parenthood’s season finale, the future for Hank was unknown. During the season finale Sarah turned down English teacher and fiance Mark Cyr (Jason Ritter) for Hank, but Hank had other plans. He wanted to move to Minnesota to be near his daughter, who he was losing physical custody over due to a sudden move.

Nellie Andreeva from Deadline noted that Ray Romano’s return to the NBC series Parenthood is due to the fantastic working relationship developed with creator and executive producer Jason Katims. Although an underrated show, Parenthood was a steady performer for NBC, so steady that it’s moving to Thursday’s at 10 pm for its fifth season.

During season four, Jason Katsim said of Ray Romano’s likelihood of returning:

“It’s always a combination of actors’ availability and their interest in doing it and a combination of that and the writers trying to figure out what the best story is for the characters. Both Jason and Ray have done such tremendous jobs in their roles on the show; they feel like part of the show; they don’t feel like guest stars.”

Romano has previously been on his own CBS sitcom titled Everybody Loves Raymond, and the ill-fated TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age.
