Redondo Beach Shooting Arrests Made, Couple In Custody

Friday night’s Redondo Beach shooting has resulted in the arrest of an alleged gang member, after police and the slain man’s family begged the public for information in the killing.

Bobby Reynolds, 38, was identified as the victim in the Redondo Beach shooting, and police in the area indicated that it seemed the husband and father was targeted and not randomly killed as he left the home of his mother-in-law.

The woman, Margaret, tearfully told reporters that she’d heard her son-in-law being shot shortly after he left her home, adding that Reynolds and her daughter had been high school sweethearts and that the man had left behind not only a wife, but a son and daughter, 13 and eight.

As of yesterday, police were seeking a 27-year-old man named Erick Ortega for questioning in the Redondo Beach shooting. While Ortega was not named a possible gunman by cops, the young man’s vehicle was believed to have been used in the ambush and was found abandoned a few blocks away.

NBC Los Angeles reports that two people have been arrested and charged in relation to the Redondo Beach murder:

“Eduardo Antonio Losa, 42, of Lomita, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the Friday shooting death of Bobby Darrin Reynolds, 38, who was gunned down at close range, police said. Losa is a member of a South Bay gang, police said… Shelby Ann Johnston, 29, was booked into jail on suspicion of being an accessory to the murder, police said.”

Police have still not disclosed a suspected motive for the Redondo Beach shooting. Press reports indicate that the pair arrested are parents to one baby, a boy, and that Johnston is pregnant with the couple’s second child. The possible connection between Losa and Reynolds was not addressed by police in confirming the two arrests.
