2010 Dallas Cowboys preview

So we finish up the NFC East with the team most likely to win the divisional crown. The Cowboys were a pretty good football team in 2009, and now they have a loaded offense that is likely to put up some very big numbers. I think there defense needed a little more work, but hey with the offense they are putting on the field they may not need the defense to step up as much. I do mot have much faith in the coaching ability of Wade Phillips, but that might not matter in 2010, this is a very skilled offensive team.

The array of weapons in the passing game for QB Tony Romo is astonishing. They have the deepest WR corps in the NFL today with starters Roy Williams, and Miles Austin and then Patrick Crayton and new comer Dez Bryant. Let us not forget about TE Jason Whitten. On top of all that they have Felix Jones and Marion Barber as two very productive running backs. Their offensive line is good, and has no questions as to who will be in the mix.

On the defensive side we have OLB Demarcus Ware leading this unit that will run a base 3-4 scheme. I think they main questions for this team comes at the free safety position where Alan Ball and Michael Hamlin will duke it out in training camp to be the starter. However I think this is the weak spot on this team. Of course they do have two pretty good corners in Terrence Newman and Mike Jenkins so they may be just fine.

On special teams David Buehler will be the kicker and Mat McBriar will be the punter. As far as kick returner and punt returner I think the Cowboys have a lot of options there and we may see a number of guys returning kicks for this team.
