Ellen Page Claims ‘The Last Of Us’ Ripped Off Her Likeness

Ellen Page believes Naughty Dog ripped off her likeness for the video game The Last of Us.

When you compare the Hard Candy actress to the character found in the recent game, the similarities are hard to deny. Page definitely has a unique look, one that appears to have been borrowed for Naughty Dog’s latest interactive effort.

According to IGN, the actress isn’t exactly happy with the developers’ decision to rip off her likeness. After all, the acclaimed actress has her own video game coming out later this year.

During a recent Reddit AMA, Page briefly discussed her displeasure with The Last of Us. To make matters worse for the actress, the character that shares her look is named Ellie. Coincidence? Page doesn’t seem to think so.

“I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness. But I am actually acting in a video game called ‘Beyond: Two Souls,’ so it was not appreciated,” she wrote.

The Verge reports Ellie once looked a lot more like Ellen Page during the easy stages of production on The Last of Us. However, Naughty Dog stated the character was eventually changed to resemble Ashley Johnson, the actress who plays the part in the game.

The developers reportedly revealed their project back in 2011. Months later, Quantric Dream announced that Ellen Page could be starring in Beyond: Two Souls. The actress’ endeavor is currently slated to arrive for the PS3 on October 8. The Last of Us is available right now.

The similarities between Ellie and Ellen Page has caused some confusion online. Whenever someone on Twitter sends the actress some accolades for her work in The Last of Us, she kindly points them in the direction of Ashley Johnson. After all, this case of mistaken identity isn’t the fault of her fans.
