Former bodybuilder Lateisha Jandreau charged after husband’s body found in garage

A former bodybuilder has been charged with her husband’s murder after police found the man dead in his garage on Saturday.

Paul Jandreau was reported missing by friends Wednesday after he failed to turn up for work, and Currituck County sheriffs searched the Jandreau’s home early Saturday and made the macabre discovery. Lateisha Jandreau, 38, was found by authorities, hiding in a closet.

Paul Jandreau’s brother, Mike, said that his brother’s marriage wasn’t very solid and he was planning on seeking a divorce:

“He’d been talking about divorce for weeks. He told me she was cheating on him and that he had plenty of evidence,” Mike Jandreau said. “I asked him if he was OK and he said, ‘ I’m not worried about anything.’ He said he just needed to get her out of his house so he could have his life back.”

Mike Jandreau also says that his brother’s friends were immediately suspicious when Paul missed work, and their informal surveillance of the Jandreau home may have kept the crime from going undetected.

“He was a stand-up guy with a very close group of friends,” Mike Jandreau said. “I don’t think the sheriff’s department would have gotten to her so quickly without his friends. They stood vigilance at his home and never gave her the chance to dispose of the body.”

Authorities have not yet made available information regarding the man’s cause of death nor the reasons behind the act. Lateisha Jandreau has been charged with first degree murder and is being held without bond.
