Will shooting be Michael Vick’s last straw?

Let us start by saying it does not appear that Michael Vick was involved in this incident. Apparently there was a shooting at the club hosting the troubled NFL star’s 30th birthday party. A man was injured in the shooting, and he happened to be a man with ties to Michael Vick’s illegal dog fighting ring. For the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles that brings up several troubling facts. First that Vick is associating with the people who led to his prison term and his NFL suspension, and second that trouble continues to find Vick.

While there seems to be some question if Vick was even present at the time of the shooting, I don’t think that is the fact the NFL or the owners of the Eagles are going to care about. The simple fact here is Vick should not be hanging out with the people who helped get him in trouble in the first place, and secondly he should be being way more careful about what goes on around him. This is his last chance in the NFL, and it seems he does not have a good sense of what he is risking here.

If I ran the Eagles I would cut him immediately. I think given his past, that this would be legally fine and accepted by the fans of the team. It does not seem Vick in interested in staying out of trouble and away from the people who caused said trouble. The facts here are this rekindled friendship with his previous co-defendant may jeopardize his status with the Federal Government, and really with the league itself.

He was readmitted to the league on the basis he would not be a further problem. I think a club shooting at his 30th birthday party qualifies as a problem, and it should be dealt with immediately and harshly.
