PlayStation Network down for maintenance, 3D games probably to blame

The PlayStation Network has decided to put its feet up for the day, with the above image appearing for anybody trying to log on for a bit of online larks.

The reason? “Scheduled maintenance”, apparently, but stop sweating, kids: the service is only down from 8 a.m. (PST) to 8:30 p.m., meaning it’ll be back just under … three hours from now. Hey, it is free. It’s worth mentioning that Netflix streaming is still running, so if you don’t think your life can continue without connecting your big, black games grill to the interwebs, there’s always that.

In almost certainly related news, your console may have a whole extra dimension to play with when PSN does return – as I posted the other day, June 10th sees the launch of the first PS3 titles to support stereoscopic 3D – WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, Pain, and a demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
