Maytag Dishwasher Recall 2010: What You Need To Know

1.7 million Maytag dishwashers have been recalled as they offer a “potential fire hazard,” a polite way of saying they may burn down your house.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said in a statement that they had received 12 reports of electrical failures in the dishwasher heating element that led to fires and damage.

Fortunately no one has been injured yet by the faulty dishwashers, although there has been one case of extensive house damage.

The CPSC advises that consumers should immediately stop using the dishwashers and disconnect power to the unit.

The Maytag dishwasher recall 2010 includes dishwashers sold under the brands Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley. The dishwashers were made with black, bisque, white, silver and stainless steel front panels and sold at stores across the United States and Canada from February 2006 through April 2010.
