‘Mad Max’ Is On His Way … To Xbox One [Video]

Mad Max is coming to Xbox One!

You know the movies. Max started as a family man with a new baby in the Australian wastelands after a gas-fueled apocalypse. He crossed some cannibals after going rogue from his law enforcement agency, and they hunted him down, eventually killing his wife and child. Mad Max had lost everything and went on the run ever since, hunting down miscreants who abuse their power, and doing so with extreme prejudice.

Mad Max will not stop until all the wrongs have been made right, and in the film world, Tom Hardy is succeeding Mel Gibson as the title character in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Now Mad Max is coming to the Xbox One, and bringing his brutal justice with him. Announced by Warner Bros., Mad Max is being developed by Avalanche Studios, the people behind Just Cause. In a press release they say staying alive in this game isn’t easy, and the player will “clash with deadly factions and gangs through scores of dangerous side missions and quests in the dynamic open-world.”

Mad Max will take after the films in that you will be able to fight on foot as well as in souped up armored vehicles. In the game, you’ll be given the option to upgrade your vehicle with weapons, armor, and better engines. You might also be tasked with conserving ammunition and fuel, keeping with the theme of the films.

The E3 2013 trailer below for Mad Max begins with a sweeping view of the cracked desert landscape of the dystopian future Australia, where we see someone lying on the ground, with spiked overalls and a bald head. Mad Max comes rolling up and stops to get out, pulling out his gun. He approaches the man and turns him over with his foot.

The man begs Mad Max, “Please, kill me.” Then we see Mad Max standing over him, a silhouette in the overhead sun. Mad Max checks his gun and gets back in his car, and proceeds to run the man over instead of wasting a bullet.

Do you think the Xbox One will get a faithful tie-in to the Mad Max franchise? What do you think of the E3 2013 trailer?
