Simon Cowell Egged And She’s Not Sorry, Egg Thrower Speaks Out

Simon Cowell got egged on Sunday night on Britain’s Got Talent, and he probably just wishes we would all talk about something else. However, that isn’t going to happen just yet, because the guilty party was given a lot of column inches to explain herself on Monday in The Guardian — and she wants us all to know that she isn’t one bit sorry.

In case you missed it, The Inquisitr’s Corey Mann previously published a complete description of the sequence of events, including a very entertaining video that you won’t want to miss.

Apparently, the fun all got started a day or so before, when Simon Cowell tweeted a mindless grumble that he hated eggs. During what would have otherwise been a tedious performance of cornball classic “The Impossible Dream” for the 2013 finale episode, laughing 30-year-old backup violinist Natalie Holt headed for the judge’s panel and proceeded to pelt Simon Cowell with six organic eggs.

I would have pelted the musical director with the eggs in questions but hey. It’s all good.

Americans were probably just happy to see that somebody hit the smug judge with a few eggs, but the U.K. media wanted to get to the bottom of Natalie Holt’s motives.

The Telegraph’s Jake Wallis Simons said that she texted him with this message: “I basically took a stand against people miming on television and against Simon and his dreadful influence on the music industry.”

But before Simons could meet with Holt and find out more, The Guardian apparently made her a better offer, because they have now published a lengthy explanation written by Natalie Holt herself. You can read the whole thing there, but here are a few highlights:

“I am not sorry for pelting Simon Cowell with eggs… My actions were intended as a non-violent, egg-based protest because I think Cowell has too much power and influence in the entertainment industry. I also just wanted to make him look a bit silly.”

I think Cowell does a pretty decent job of looking silly all by himself but don’t let me interfere with the fine work you’re doing over there. Heh.

Holt does apologize for ruining Richard and Adam’s (hopelessly overwrought) performance, saying that she got nervous and jumped the gun before their song was over.

She also claimed to have somehow secretly received “many messages of support from well-known musicians” but apparently “everyone is scared” of Cowell so she can’t name any names. She’s had job offers cancelled, and apparently her agent is not happy.

So Natalie Holt would like to make peace: “As an act of goodwill, I would also be happy to offer to pay his dry cleaning bill or buy him a new shirt, maybe with a few more buttons at the top.” Meow.

While Holt claimed he was smiling as she pelted him with eggs, Simon Cowell is probably not smiling now.
