Ex-Journey Singer Perry Reveals All About Cancer

Ex-Journey singer Steve Perry is recovering from surgery he had to remove a cancerous mole from his right cheek. Perry revealed that he needed to undergo surgery in the cancerous mole on his cheek just weeks after losing his girlfriend and love of his life to brain cancer.

Perry’s girlfriend Kellie Nash was a true survivor, having battled with and apparently beaten a double mastectomy for breast cancer which eventually returned and traveled to her lungs, bones, and brain. This made Perry’s own run in with cancer even harder as the memories of the woman he loved and lost were forced back to him. As is clear from his emotional blog post from June 6th:

“She continued chemo from May into December, when headaches started; cancer had gone to her brain. She started brain radiation and the chemo continued. One night she told me she just couldn’t do it any more, and would I be angry if she stopped everything? I told her that never would I ever be angry with her”

Perry is known for being a very private person when it comes to his personal life, making his recent heartfelt post that much more meaningful to his fans. In it he discusses his struggle, both with cancer and his bereavement since the loss of his girlfriend, Nash in December:

“She was so strong, so courageous and we really loved each other so very much. I’ve been trying to grieve and not run from this loss so for the last 5 months that’s what I’ve been doing along with recalling everything being in Love with Kellie taught me”.

Having only dated for a year and a half, it is clear from ex-Journey singer Perry’s words how much he loved Kellie, as he says:

“Yes, we both knew that we were meant to be together. My life was forever changed in ways I will explain at another time but it was all because of my Kellie”

Perry had two surgeries on the mole on his cheek within a two week period and said that fortunately all the cancerous cells were removed and that doctors have said no further treatment will be necessary.

Here’s the classic “Faithfully”

We hope the ex-Journey singer makes a complete recovery and our heart goes out to him for his loss. Were you a Journey fan?
