Ian Ziering has joined Chippendales. The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 debuted over the weekend in the Chippendale’s Las Vegas show. Ziering, age 49, was featured as a guest headliner in the show.
Ziering, who also appeared on Dancing With the Stars, will be performing in two shows per week through the end of June. The show is presented by the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As reported by ABC News, preparing for the role was not easy for Ziering. The former teen heartthrob and father of two had to stick to a strict diet to drop 25 pounds. Ziering explains the struggles he faced, stating that he started out with a diet of strictly protein, slowly adding fruits and vegetables. He had a hard time giving up some of his favorite foods, but states it was well worth it.
Ian Ziering joins Chippendales with the full support and encouragement of his wife, Erin Kristine Ludwig. He discusses her reaction to his new physique:
“As the weight came off, the flirty texts started to appear … A little more sugar, if you know what I mean.”
As reported by TV Guide, Ziering explains that he healthier now than he has been in 20 years. He states that he is in the “best shape [he’s] ever been.”
Ziering’s is most well known for his role as Steve Sanders in Beverly Hills, 90210. He appeared in a total of 292 episodes between 1990 and 2000, when the show was cancelled. Ziering is also known for his voice acting in the cartoons Biker Mice From Mars and the Mighty Ducks.
Performing with the Chippendales has been challenging. However, Ziering is having a great time. He hopes to reunite with some of the 90210 cast if they are interested in stopping in Vegas to see his show.
