Miguel Cabrera Throws Gum At Ryan Raburn For Breaking Up No-Hitter [Video]

Miguel Cabrera and Ryan Raburn spent five seasons as teammates with the Detroit Tigers before Raburn made the move to the Cleveland Indians in 2013. On Sunday, the newest Indians’ utility player hit a solo home run off Jose Alvarez to break up a no-hit bid in the fifth inning of the starter’s Major League debut which led to a playful moment from Cabrera.

Last season’s Triple Crown winner chucked his gum at Raburn as he rounded third base during the home run trot, which led to a quick laugh from the hot hitter. Raburn smiled at Cabrera and continued on with his trot, though the Tigers would go on to hold off the Indians for a 4-1 win.

After a great start to the season, Raburn has settled down a bit of late but continues to be a force at the plate. In 35 games this season, the 32-year-old sports a .292 average with seven home runs and 20 RBIs.

Miguel Cabrera is also off to a stellar start and another Triple Crown could be on the way if he continues to light up American League pitching. He currently leads the MLB with a .363 average and 67 RBIs, but he’s behind Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles in homers with 17 on the season.

The 30-year-old has been the best hitter in baseball for many years running, but his offensive output of late has left analysts with one simple question: Is this guy even human?

Yes, he’s probably just a normal guy with an appetite for tearing the cover off baseballs, but his ability to practically run away with every major offensive stat category in the American League is more than impressive.

With all of his success, Cabrera still manages to joke around in the Tigers’ clubhouse, which he’s obviously taken to the field after throwing his gum at Ryan Raburn on Sunday. Here’s video of the playful, yet somewhat gross moment.
