Beautiful People Jobs Site Launches, No Uggos Need Apply

A new Beautiful People jobs site has been spun off the professional media trolling entity known as BeautifulPeople.com — a social network that purports to carefully vet their users and only allow highly attractive folks to join.

The Beautiful People jobs site is only the latest in a string of inflammatory ventures from the company. For years, the site and its owners have popped up from time to time with a looks shaming initiative, always coupled with some trolling press releases insulting fat people and others they claim are not good looking enough to use their services.

Before the Beautiful People jobs site launched, back in 2009, the site got itself splashed across news sites for kicking people off (allegedly) for gaining weight over the Christmas holidays.

Back then, a press release from the people behind BeautifulPeople.com bemoaned the thousands of users who put on weight over the winter months, saying:

“We responded to complaints by moving the newly chubby members back to the rating stage. This is the same as having them re-apply … Their re-applications were reviewed by existing members and only a few hundred were voted back in. Over 5,000 were rejected.”

Another spokesman said back then:

“As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld … Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.”

Miki Haines of BeautifulPeople.com explained the Beautiful People job site to ABC recently — not addressing potential issues of discrimination employers using the site could ostensibly face by putting their names to such a hiring initiative.

Haines said:

“We’ve been doing that via email for quite some time and getting quite good responses … We thought, ‘Why not make this more official as a resource for more companies?’ ”

Adding that more than 80 employers have signed up so far, Haines explains:

“The site is very much growing in the direction our community guides us to … We didn’t know [that in] 10 years we were going to offer career opportunities. It’s gone that way because the economy is doing better.”

Prior to the Beautiful People jobs site, BeautifulPeople.com also created a virtual fertility service to allow people to find a good looking sperm or egg donor.
