Alan Tudyk, Rex Lee Leave ‘Suburgatory’

Suburgatory‘s third season will be going forward without two of the series’ regulars.

Alan Tudyk and Rex Lee will not be returning as regulars next season, but they may potentially appear as guest stars.

Tudyk and Lee’s characters weren’t picked up due to budget cuts, which forced Warner Bros. to reduce the number of series regulars. Further cast cuts and other demotions are also possible.

Tudyk plays Noah Werner, who is the best friend of George Altman (Jeremy Sisto). Lee plays Mr. Wolfe, the Chatswin High School guidance counselor. Both have been on the show since the first season.

The rest of the cast — Sisto, Jane Levy, Cheryl Hines, Ana Gasteyer, Chris Parnell, Carly Chaikin and Allie Grant — are expected to return. Parker Young, who played Ryan “The Body” Shay, the older brother of Lisa Shay (Grant) and sometimes boyfriend of Tessa (Levy) recently landed a lead role as Randy Hill in the upcoming military comedy Enlisted. The series also stars Geoff Stults and Chris Lowell as Randy’s older brothers Pete and Derrick. The brothers are stationed at Fort McGee in Florida, but their unit isn’t that great, and they’re stuck with menial jobs like mowing the lawn and dealing with the mail. But they also have to take care of the families of deployed soldiers.

Malin Akerman, who plays Tessa’s mother, Alex, may also be seen in a diminished role, since her series Trophy Wifewas picked up. Akerman will star as Kate, a “reformed party girl” who marries a man she met at a karaoke bar. Her new husband has two ex-wives and children, so Kate has to learn how to deal with all of that while trying to blend into her new family.
