Nicolas Cage To Be Honored At Italian Film Festival

Nicolas Cage is set to receive a prestigious honor at an upcoming event.

The Oscar-winning star of Leaving Las Vegas will be among three individuals to receive the Ischia Global Film and Music Fest’s Legends Award this summer. The festival is scheduled to take place towards the middle of July.

Ischia founder Pascal Vicedomini said on Tuesday that Nicolas Cage was being honored because of his “daring performances and fearless choice of roles.”

In addition to Cage, actors Samuel L. Jackson and Pretty Woman producer Arnon Milchan will also receive the Ischia Legends Award this July.

Director Scott Walker’s The Frozen Ground will have its Italian premiere at the Ischia Global Film and Music Fest as well. The film stars Nicolas Cage as a cop who is on the prowl for a serial killer. John Cusack, Vanessa Hudgens, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson co-star.

Nicolas Cage will be honored with the Ischia Legends Award on July 19. The presentation will be followed by a screening of Walker’s The Frozen Ground.

Previous winners of the prestigious award include Hilary Swank, Ben Kingsley, and Sting. Directors Vittorio and Paolo Taviani, as well as music producer Clive Davis, also received the honor.

Nicolas Cage has a number of projects currently on the horizon. In addition to the upcoming supernatural thriller Hotel 33, the actor will star in the reboot of the apocalyptic thriller Left Behind. Both films are expected to arrive at some point in the near future.

Cage is also likely to return for the sequel to his animated box office hit The Croods. The 20th Century Fox-produced family flick has earned an impressive $563 million worldwide. Not surprisingly, the studio is looking to capitalize on the movie’s success with a follow-up.
