Could you see LeBron James in the NFL playing QB? Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann can, and he’d be more than willing to help the NBA superstar if he ever wanted to make the transition.
Theismann spoke with Fox Sports Florida over the weekend, and he believes James could be one heck of a quarterback.
“I wouldn’t count him out,” Theismann said about James. “He’s the most tremendous physical specimen in all of sports. I think he’s certainly talented enough. He’s intelligent.”
Theismann is certainly right when he considers James as the top “physical specimen in all of sports,” but as he continues on, his plea becomes a sales pitch for the NBA’s MVP to become his agent if he switches to football.
“I would love to work him out and also serve as his agent,” Theismann added. “I’ll go wherever he wants this summer. He could play another four years in the NBA before seriously trying the NFL. There are not a lot of 38- or 39-year-old basketball players, but there are 38- and 39-year-old quarterbacks, so there’s time for him.”
The former quarterback seems to be very serious about the thought of LeBron James as an NFL QB instead of a dominating force on the basketball court. He even etched out how he’d train the NBA champion if got the chance to coach him up.
“The first thing I’d do is teach him the snap,” Theismann said. “Then I’d take him through drop backs, quick hitches, throwing the deep ball. Wouldn’t that be a great piece of footage to see, LeBron throwing the football?”
Yes Joe, it would be a spectacle to see “King James” leave his NBA throne to pursue a career in the NFL, and he’d more than likely be very successful, but the likelihood of it happening is slim to none. When you are widely considered Micheal Jordan’s heir, the thought of switching jobs just doesn’t add up. The 28-year-old is currently tearing up the NBA playoffs as he looks to defend the title and playing football is the last thing on his mind.
Do you agree with Joe Theismann? Could you see Lebron James in the NFL taking snaps as the QB?
