Nick Swisher Welcomes Baby Girl With Wife JoAnna Garcia

Congratulations are in order for Nick Swisher and his wife JoAnna Garcia who welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world earlier this week.

People magazine reports that little Emerson Jay Swisher was born on Tuesday, May 21 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The child was the first for Swisher, 32, and his 33-year-old actress wife.

“We are overjoyed, blessed and so full of love that our daughter Emme has finally arrived,” the Swishers tell PEOPLE. “She is healthy, beautiful and vibrant. It’s the best feeling in the world.”

The couple, who married in December of 2010, announced they were expecting back in November.

A month later, Swisher and Garcia moved from New York City, where Nick played baseball for the Yankees, to Cleveland.

The Ohio native currently plays first base for the Cleveland Indians. Swisher is expected to return to the field Friday.

Prior to Emerson’s birth, Swisher revealed that he was more than ready for the little girl’s arrival.

“I am so excited. I never in a million years thought I’d have a little girl, but over the last six months, the pink and purple dresses that I’ve bought,” Swisher told Yahoo! earlier this month.

“My wife says, ‘You’re going to spoil that little girl so much.’ I talk to her every night. We’re only a couple weeks out now. Jo and I, we’re so excited to meet her and to bring her in the world and give her a whole heap of love. It’s that life-altering moment that I need. I’ve been cruising along. I’ve got a beautiful wife — she’s my best friend. I’ve got a great job and a beautiful home, and now it’s time to be a dad.”
