Nick Jonas and Giuliana Rancic have been selected to host the 2013 Miss USA pageant.
The Jonas brother and the E! News anchor will appear at the event this June. Officials behind the competition made the official announcement regarding their involvement on Tuesday (May 21).
NBC, Donald Trump, and Paula M. Shugart are the masterminds behind the Miss USA pageant. Their event is scheduled to take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on June 16.
“We are excited to announce a veteran and a newcomer as hosts for this year’s Miss USA competition. The diverse backgrounds of Rancic and Jonas in the entertainment industry will bring a new and exciting energy to the stage,” Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart said in a statement.
Although Nick Jonas is co-hosting this year’s event, he isn’t the first Jonas brother to get involved with the pageant. Nick’s brother Joe served on the judges panel during last year’s competition. The Jonas Brothers are also slated to perform at the event.
The Miss USA pageant will help the Nick and the other Jonas brothers promote their upcoming album. According the press release on the competition’s website, the group decided to take a short break in order to “refocus their creative energies.” The new single “Pom Poms” was released last month.
In addition to the Jonas Brothers, anyone who tunes in will get to see ladies from all 50 states compete for the Miss USA title. The contestants will be judged in several categories including swimsuit and evening gown.
Whoever wins the 62nd edition of the Miss USA pageant will go on to compete for the title of Miss Universe later this year. A date and a venue have not been set as of this writing.
