Alice Eve ‘Star Trek’ Lingerie Scene Was Gratuitous, Says Damon Lindelof

Star Trek Into Darkness has received some pretty good reviews since its debut, but there is one scene that stands out from the rest: The Alice Eve lingerie scene.

Why? Well, it doesn’t really fit into the movie. It just appears out of nowhere. The audience is bouncing around the universe and then all of a sudden Carol, played by Alice Eve, decides to strip down into her lingerie.

Damon Lindelof, the co-writer of the film, admitted in an interview with MTV that there was really no reason for Eve to appear in her underwear.

Lindelof said: “Why is Alice Eve in her underwear, gratuitously and unnecessarily, without any real effort made as to why in God’s name she would undress in that circumstance? Well, there’s a very good answer for that. But I’m not telling you what it is. Because… uh… MYSTERY?”

Lindelof talked more about the scene on Twitter and apologized to fans for the gratuitous scene.

The writer said: “I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress.”

The writer caught some criticism for shamelessly adding a lingerie scene into the Star Trek movie and Lindelof apologized for the misogynistic scene. There’s nothing he can do about it now but the writer promised to be more careful in the future.

Lindelof said: “What I’m saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future.”

Here’s the trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness and again, for some reason, Alice Eve appears in lingerie.
