Green Day: Rock Band gets June release date

Green Day will become the second band to get their very own version of Rock Band when Green Day: Rock Band launches later this year. Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that the game will hit stores When September Ends on June 8.

Harmonix did a truly magnificent job on Beatles: Rock Band, and much of what was great about that game will reappear here, from three part harmonies to collectible images to over 40 minutes of rare video and performances documenting Green Day’s 20-odd-year career.

There’ll be 47 tracks from the start, though only five have been unveiled until now: “Brain Stew/Jaded,” “Hitchin’ A Ride,” “American Idiot,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

And if Green Day ain’t your thing (they’re not my cup of tea, in truth)? Well, we can all get back to waiting for Rock Band 3. And belt out some Lady Gaga while we wait.
