Geno Smith To Sign With Jay-Z? Roc Nation Meets With Jets QB

Geno Smith may have Jay-Z in his corner when he negotiates a contract with the New York Jets.

Smith, who was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round, reportedly met with an agent from Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation sports agency.

Smith hasn’t signed with anyone yet but NFL.com reports that Fletcher Smith or Roc Nation pitched to the new Jets Quarterback this weekend. Smith also heard proposals from several other agencies.

Pro Football Talk reports: “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Smith has wrapped up two days of meetings with potential successors to Select Sports Group, the agency Smith hired after completing his college career at West Virginia. Making presentations were Joel Segal, Rick Smith of Priority Sports, Eugene Parker, Fletcher Smith, and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation agency.”

Jay-Z’s agency has already signed New York Yankees’ Robinson Cano and New York Giants’ Victor Cruz and he’s now apparently looking to add a Jet to the roster. Sports Illustrated notes that the singer is not a certified NFLPA agent so he can’t directly contact Smith in order to persuade him to join Roc Nation. Still, Smith knows that when he’s talking to Roc Nation’s Fletcher Smith that Jay-Z is standing close by.

Jay-Z recently sold his share of the Brooklyn Nets in order to launch his sports agency. So far, he’s hired some pretty big names. Geno Smith isn’t a big NFL star yet but he has the potential to take the starting quarterback job from Mark Sanchez this season.

Do you think Geno Smith will join Jay-Z at Roc Nation?
