Billie Joe Armstrong: ‘PSY Is The Herpes Of Music’ [Video]

South Korean entertainer PSY has millions of fans, but Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong apparently isn’t one of them.

This week, Billie Joe posted a PSY-chedelic photo of the singer to his Instagram page with the caption “This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it’s gone, it comes back.” The post also included the hashtags #herpes #flareup and #pleasegoaway just in case you doubted his conviction.

So far as we know, Billie Joe’s post is completely unprovoked, unless you count the recent release of PSY’s “Gangnam Style” follow-up “Gentleman” as an opening volley.

PSY proved he was no one-hit wonder when “Gentleman” hit 22 million YouTube views in the first 24 hours after it was posted.

Hilariously, PSY dismantled Billie Joe’s criticism the only way you really can: By ignoring it. In an interview with FUSE, the singer was asked about the comment, and playfully replied “I kinda like it, it’s cool. He said I’m like the herpes… that keeps coming back. I think it’s really cool. Thank you.”

He even got a jab in there by asking his interviewer to repeat Billie Joe’s name … he wasn’t sure he heard it the first time.

Burn.

So what’s the deal with Billie Joe’s one-sided PSY beef? The veteran punk rocker has never really been known for his reserve, but he has been especially irritable lately. After an on-stage blow up over his set time at the iHeartRadio Festival, Billie Joe admitted that he was struggling with substance addiction and entered rehab.

He is recently out of rehab, and good for him, but what’s with the PSY beef, Billie Joe?

Here’s video of PSY responding to Billie Joe’s insult:
