Injustice: Gods Among Us has now landed a Batgirl DLC character trailer.
Previously Injustice: Gods Among Us released the DLC trailer for DC Comics’ more serious version of Deadpool, known as Lobo. He was an alien biker with weapons all over the place and a ridiculous healing factor. Lobo was also said to be Stan Lee’s favorite character from the rival comics company.
Now we have new DLC in the works for Injustice: Gods Among Us and among the rumors, one turned out to be true thus far. Batgirl has indeed been confirmed via a DLC trailer.
Batgirl, according to the comics, was the female equivalent of Robin. Unlike Robin, however, Batgirl is a computer hacker who often works behind the scenes as the boys do most of the fighting. Injustice: Gods Among Us will have her on the frontline now, fighting alongside the Dark Knight and the rest of the DC universe.
The trailer begins with the usual intro for Injustice videos, with walls breaking into rubble and logos appearing behind them. We see a comic book page featuring Batman and Batgirl without her suit (the name Barbara appears in one panel, Batgirl’s civilian name), as the narrator recounts the game character’s origin, “In 1988, Batgirl’s life took a terrible turn in the classic graphic novel The Killing Joke. In a vile attempt to drive Commissioner Gordon crazy, the Joker paid a surprise visit to Gordon’s home where he shot and paralyzed Barbara in front of her father.”
We see more images from the graphic novel where the Joker is sitting on a throne surrounded by baby dolls, and shooting Barbara Gordon in the stomach.
The narrator continues, “25 years later, it’s time for a little payback.” We see the Joker step out in his Killing Joke outfit and Batgirl swinging along, preparing for a battle. She lands and says, “You don’t stand a chance.”
