Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler Cleared, Will Return To The Ring On May 25


Jerry “The King” Lawler has been cleared to return to the ring.

Lawler, 63, suffered a near-fatal heart attack last September. The King survived the heart attack but many believed that his wrestling days were over. Well, Lawler has been cleared to wrestle again and he’s planning his return later this month.

According to The Miami Herald, Lawler will team up with WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk Jr., 73, for a tag team match on May 25.

Lawler, who suffered a heart attack during a live WWE broadcast, said that he’s been dreaming about getting back to the wrestling ring ever since his near death experience.

Lawler said: “The one thing I’ve not done since the heart attack is get back into the ring and wrestle… I certainly do miss the wrestling and I do want to go back and do it some more.”

Yahoo News reports that Lawler’s wrestling comeback won’t be on the big WWE stage. Instead, the 63-year-old’s comeback match will be at the!Bang! TV studio in (Central Florida) Ocala. The Royal Combat” event will also feature Quinton Drop-Back Hitchcock and Johnny Magnum.
