Rapper Kanye West is joining the star-studded cameo cast of Anchorman 2.
According to Hollywood.com, Anchorman 2 has added yet another high-profile name to its list of celebrity cameos. Kanye West was reportedly spotted in downtown Atlanta filming a scene with Christina Applegate and Paul Rudd, both of whom return from the original 2004 comedy film.
The witness reportedly spotted West among the film’s stars on a rooftop, and blabbed that Ye was “quite afraid of heights and required an umbrella for shade most of the time he was on the roof.”
Yeah, that sounds like him.
West’s role in the film, if genuine, is completely unknown at this point. But Anchorman 2 already has a slew of A-list stars joining for a quick spot, including Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who were reportedly spotted filming a cameo this week.
Other cameos planned for Anchorman 2 include Sacha Baron Cohen, Harrison Ford, Liam Neeson and Nicole Kidman.
Returning original cast members include Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, David Koechner and more. Kristen Wiig, a newcomer to the series, will play Brick Tamland’s wife, and Vince Vaughn will return as the villainous Wes Mantooth, the first film’s main antagonist.
Good grief, just go read the cast list on IMDb.
In any case, celebrity cameo news is about the only news we get regarding Anchorman 2, the plot of which is still under tight wraps. The teaser trailer (posted below) doesn’t really give much away, either.
This isn’t West’s first film. He previously appeared in the 2008 comedy The Love Guru alongside Mike Myers, but that movie failed to garner any significant fanfare among critics or film-goers.
