‘Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon’ Could Be Start Of New Series

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon started off as something that was thought to be a joke. Then it turned into a cool little spinoff of the original game series. Now it could be the start of a whole other series.

The game has little to do with the other games in this series, and that might actually be its strength. The 1980s theme and crazy action could turn into something more than a one-off game.

Micheal Biehn, who voices the main character in the newest game, says that he has heard that a sequel might be on the way.

If Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon does indeed get its own sequel, it wouldn’t be the first time in video gaming it has happened. This kind of a move is certainly rare though.

Biehn spilled the beans when talking to renowned Xbox personality and executive Major Nelson. He was making an appearance on Nelson’s podcast and said he had a conversation with the game’s Creative Director, Dean Evans

“Dean was with me on the phone last night,” Biehn said. “He was pretty jacked up. He was going into a meeting today. I think he wants to turn it into some sort of franchise. He’s got a sequel in mind.”

It should be pointed out that this is hardly a promise that a continuation would actually be made. At the moment, the talk about a sequel seems to be more in the planning stages than in the process of execution.

You’ve also got to wonder whether there is really enough material there to actually make more than one more game out of what was accomplished in this one.

It does seem likely that if anyone could actually take this fever dream and make it more than a couple of games it would be Evans’ team.

What would you think about a Blood Dragon series?
