Star Trek’s Chris Pine Talks Love Life: ‘It’s Always Springtime’

Chris Pine, a.k.a. Captain Kirk in Star Trek Into Darkness, is currently single after splitting with model Dominique Piek. But, even though he admits that it’s “really hard in our business to maintain something,” he’s not worried about the single life.

In the latest issue of OUT, the 32-year-old heartthrob says he’s too busy to focus on a relationship right now. “For me, right now, it’d be really hard,” he admits. Still, he confesses that it’s not hard to meet women in Hollywood. “Well, I’m a 32-year-old man,” he grins. “I feel like it’s always springtime.”

Pine started dating Piek in the fall of 2011, only to split quietly in 2013. He has been linked to Olivia Munn and Audrina Patridge in the past.

The actor also opened up about his close friendship with Star Trek co-star Zachary Quinto, who came out publicly in a 2011 interview with New York magazine.

“I thought it was rad,” Pine said of Quinto’s decision. “It was really, really cool. He did it on his own time, on his own schedule. And Jonathan [Groff], who he’s dating, is such a lovely man. He’s a good guy and a great actor, and they make a fantastic couple. I couldn’t have been happier for Zach.”

Pine also bragged a little bit about his “gaydar.” The Star Trek reboot came out in 2009, two years before Quinto revealed himself as gay. But Pine says that he knew from the moment the two met.

“It was just who Zach was and that’s that. I’m sensitive, and I don’t ever want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Knowing that for Zach it was more about a career thing and that he was not comfortable at the time coming out — it was fine,” he said.

“It was something that we kind of tiptoed around and I just took it as a given, because that’s what he wanted,” he concluded.

Are you a fan of Chris Pine? He’ll be seen next in Star Trek Into Darkness, which comes out in the U.S. on May 17, 2013.
