Zendaya and Hunter Schafer may be playing romantic lovers in Euphoria but off-screen they have a unique, sisterly relationship.
Viewers and critics of the show have praised the actors for their portrayal of their characters. Their on-screen chemistry translated to a beautiful friendship outside of the show, one that Zendaya values so much.

The hit HBO show, which tackles real-life issues of Gen Z, highlights the relationship between troubled teens Rue, played by Zendaya, and Jules, played by Schafer.
The duo faces the challenges of being in a complicated space in their relationship while also dealing with their own mental health problems.
While the series also feature other storylines, from drug issues to sexual promiscuity, the Rue-James coupling has been the emotional core of the show.

In an interview, Zendaya, who is 25, revealed that she slipped into a big sister role off-screen with Hunter, who is only 22 years old and new to the industry.
"Knowing that she was so young and so much of this was new to her, my thing was being as much of a big sister as I could… What we do for a living is important, but the friendship we share is more important," Zendaya said.
Schafer has expressed mutual adoration for her co-star. Hunter spoke about her relationship with the Dune star with V magazine.
"I don't know if I've ever worked closer with anyone than Zendaya on Euphoria," Schafer shared. "It was such an extensive process, and a very intimate one."
"We’ve formed a really special bond over the past eight months that I’m so thankful for.," she says in another interview.
While the production of the second season was delayed because of the pandemic, filming has finally wrapped and the upcoming season is scheduled to air on HBO Max on January 9, 2022.
What's in store for Rue and Jules? Zendaya spoke to Teen Vogue and revealed that this will be a tough season to watch.
"It's a challenging season. It's gonna be hard and it's gonna be devastating sometimes, but I think Rue really deserves all of that care when it comes to her character, because I think she represents a lot for so many people," she said.
"And I hope to make those people proud with our depictions of Rue [and] where all the characters go. I think this season's not going to be easy, though. It’s not going to be a fun watch, I don't think."
