Lindsay Cronin

Skai Jackson has accomplished a lot as a young actress. In addition to lending her voice to several projects, including Bubble Guppies, Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil, and the Marvel Rising franchise, Jackson has appeared on TV shows like Jessie and its spinoff, Bunk'd, and in movies, such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation and My Dad's a Soccer Mom.

But her claim to fame just might be the fact that she recently inspired the Marvel Comics superhero Ironheart, also known as Riri Willliams.

During an interview with StyleCaster on October 25, Jackson looked back on the 2016 moment in which she learned Ironheart was based on her, admitting that she initially believed the claim was nothing more than a fake rumor.

“I thought it was fake when I first saw it!” she explained. “Because people were tweeting it to me, I was like, ‘There’s no way I inspired something Marvel.’ People were like, ‘No, they really were inspired by you for the character.’ That was such a great moment for me."

"Not a lot of people can say that Marvel took them for a character. I was inspired by it and very thankful. Hopefully one day I can actually be the character," Jackson continued.

While nabbing the role of Ironheart in one of Marvel Comics' upcoming film is still a dream of Jackson's, the actress will soon be featured in the film studio's Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will feature Dominique Thorne in the coveted role of Riri Williams.

Although Jackson may have inspired Ironheart, she isn't sure if that was the role she auditioned for when she successfully nabbed a role in the 2022 film,

“See, this is the thing. I don’t know if I’ve auditioned for it,” she shared.” Because I have auditioned for Marvel things, but they don’t tell you what you’re auditioning for. They create a fake character. They don’t even tell you what the character is about. So I could have, but I have no idea.”

Though Jackson is unsure about her audition for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she confirmed that she did audition for a series of Spider-Man movies, as well as the first Black Panther film.

“I’ve auditioned for Spider-Man before. They liked me, but everybody in that high school looked so much older that I looked like a middle schooler. So that was one of the reasons [I wasn’t cast],” she revealed. “It was a fake role. They don’t tell you what it is. They create a whole different name. They just give you sides. They’re not even real sides that are going to be in the film. It’s kind of a fake audition but it’s real.”
