NBA Rumors: League Insider Predicts LiAngelo Ball To Join Forces With LaMelo Ball In Charlotte

It has been a dream of LaVar Ball to have his sons - Lonzo Ball, LaMelo Ball, and LiAngelo Ball - play in the NBA. However, while Lonzo and LaMelo entered the league as lottery selections, LiAngelo went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. Two years after, LiAngelo had received a training camp contract from the Detroit Pistons, only to be waived without playing a single preseason game.

Despite all the things that happened, LiAngelo hasn't given up and continues to keep his NBA dream alive.

LiAngelo Ball's Journey With Charlotte Hornets

When the 2021 offseason officially started, LaMelo invited LiAngelo to work out with the Charlotte Hornets. During that time, the Hornets were allowing their players to bring in one workout partner. The Hornets' staff were so impressed by LaMelo's older brother that they decided to invite him to their team that participated in the Summer League.

Despite receiving limited playing time, LiAngelo has managed to show teams how he can contribute on the offensive end of the floor. In the five games he played, he averaged 9.6 points while shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc, per RealGM.

Hornets Could Offer LiAngelo Ball An Exhibit 10 Contract

On Twitter, Shams Charania of The Athletic talked about Ball and his future in the league in the 2021-22 NBA season. Though his Summer League performance is far from perfect, Charania believes that the Hornets could offer ball an Exhibit 10 contract.

“Yeah, his future could be in Charlotte in training camp,” Charania said, as quoted by Yahoo Sports. “Overall, I think it’s going to be a test in terms of whether there’s going to be team that wants to sign him to a camp deal.”

What Is An Exhibit 10 Contract?

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary NBA contract. The deal doesn't come with compensation protection, but it can include an optional bonus ranging from $5K to $50K. However, only NBA teams with a G League affiliate could give an Exhibit 10 bonus.

The Exhibit 10 contract greatly benefits NBA teams as it's easier for them to cut players or include them on their official roster if they play well. If LiAngelo impresses again in the Hornets' training camp, it's not hard to see him joining LaMelo on the Hornets' roster next season.

Does Signing LiAngelo Ball Make Sense For The Hornets?

LiAngelo would be an intriguing addition to the Hornets. Aside from his relationship and familiarity with LaMelo's game, LiAngelo would also give the Hornets another threat from the three-point range and a player who can excel with or without the ball in his hands.

However, bringing another member of the Ball family to Charlotte could also come with a consequence for the Hornets. Having two of his sons playing for the Hornets could mean more presence of LaVar in Buzz City in the 2021-22 NBA season.
