‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’ Jetstream DLC Disappoints

The Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC Jetstream is disappointing.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance had you playing the game from the perspective of Raiden, Solid Snake’s successor of sorts. While Raiden wasn’t as cool for a while, eventually we warmed up to him and he is the star this time.

However, Raiden has his rival in the semi-villain Jetstream Sam, and this time around, Sam gets his own DLC where you can play out his role in the story. It tells you about Sam‘s involvement before joining the Desperado group, and retains the cocky attitude we all know and love about him (as much as you can love a bad guy, anyway).

As cool as it may be to have a chance to play Jetstream Sam’s side of the story, the DLC content included just doesn’t seem to be enough for the ten dollar price it costs. His missions, although entertaining in their own right, are over too fast. You can finish it all in less then two hours.

You would think that the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC might also fix some of the camera issues, but all too often, the same ones that got you killed as Raiden will also get you killed as Jetstream Sam. Being killed because you can’t see what you’re doing is a big problem.

That said, Jetstream Sam does have his share of additions to the controls you had as Raiden, such as double jumping, rolling and air dodging. The double jump, while neat, isn’t all that necessary. Sam also has a taunt that doesn’t do much more than make his enemies reckless.

New stages might have been worth ignoring how little you’re getting with this DLC. You’ll be playing through all of the same places you did as Raiden, making Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance just feel like twice the work for your money in too little time.

How do you feel about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance‘s Jetstream DLC?
