Fans of The Bachelor finally got to hear all the scoop regarding Matt James' final pick and what happened after filming. Matt initially chose Rachael Kirkconnell, but the two split before the finale aired. After the show, she took to Instagram to share some thoughts about how things played out.

The Monday evening post consisted of a lengthy caption and 10 photos. The snapshots included both casual shots and a few from filming and she raved about both Matt and the ladies she met.

Rachael Wishes Things Had Gone Differently

Rachael gave a shout-out to her fellow bachelorettes from Matt's season. She noted her disappointment that the drama that was sparked in connection to her overshadowed the other ladies. She said they were brilliant, strong, and extraordinary, and added she had been lucky to meet them.

The Bachelor winner also acknowledged that she wished her experience had ended differently.

"just when you think you found your way, life throws you onto a new path... things might not go the way you hoped for," she wrote.

She Felt That Matt Was 'Something Special'

Rachael detailed that the night she met Matt, she knew he was special. She hoped they would share something exceptional, and given how things turned out, she wished the circumstances were different.

"while i never expected this outcome, I respect his decision completely," her caption continued.

The Georgia native added that she felt blessed for the memories the couple made and the time they spent together. She seemed to indicate that she was open to the possibility that things could change between them in the future.

Matt Was The 'Love Of My Life'

Despite the disappointing ending, Rachael explained that she did fall hard for Matt.

"I got to fall in love, and I truly believe he was the love of my life. I'll always be hopeful and believe what's meant to be will be," the note detailed.

Rachael's caption also touched on the issues related to race that were the catalyst for the couple's split. The Bachelor star wrote that she hoped the finale would spark discussions and lead others to work on unlearning their biases.

'The Bachelor' Fans And Co-Stars Lend Their Support

Over the course of about 15 hours, Rachael's post received more than 212,000 likes and 11,300 comments. Co-stars like Serena Pitt, Pieper James, and Abigail Heringer commented, as did the finale host Emmanuel Acho

As a whole, the sentiments were overwhelmingly supportive for Rachael.

"You were amazing tonight! Keep your head held high... You are shining," one fan noted.

"You took accountability for your actions and handled the situation the best you could. If Matt cannot see what a gem you are it's his loss. Thinking of you," detailed another.
